DONATE YOUR DEVICE TO
CHANGE SOMEONE’S LIFE.

TechConnects is a Melbourne-based initiative supporting marginalised community members with donated devices to access online programs, support services, and to connect with family and friends during social isolation and through economic hardship.

The idea of TechConnects came about at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Melbourne (Naarm) when people were in urgent need of virtual connection. With Stage 4 lockdown, access to tech has been more crucial than ever.

Donations of new or used tablets will support Melbourne community members who are not only experiencing the difficulties of physical isolation but are also unable to access the virtual connection that has been a lifeline for so many.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

TechConnects is seeking donations from our Melbourne community with new or used tablets and pairing them with people who lack access to adequate technology, or government-supported technology initiatives. Your donated iPad will enable recipients to be part of online programs supported by our not-for-profit partner organisations.

WHY DONATE?

By donating your new or used device you will:

Provide much-needed technology so a recipient can engage with online programming and support services.

Aid our mission to support not-for-profits delivering essential online programs.

Create vital opportunities for those in need of virtual connection.

Recycle your device and contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment.

HOW WE CONNECT YOUR TECH

PROGRAM RECIPIENTS

With the advent of the pandemic, many community support organisations have adapted programs to be delivered online. One of the key challenges in moving to online programming is the lack of access to devices by participants.

TechConnects will be partnering with Melbourne based not-for-profit organisations to seek donations for participants for their online programs.

We are currently calling for donations to support Foundation House‘s Ucan2 program. Foundation House’s mission is to advance the health, wellbeing and human rights of people from refugee backgrounds who have experienced torture and trauma.

Ucan2 provides psycho-social support for newly arrived young people of refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds, presented by Foundation House.

STAY CONNECTED

TechConnects would like to acknowledge that we work, live, and play on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the traditional custodians of Melbourne. We would also like to acknowledge that their sovereignty was never ceded, a fight that still continues today. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders, past present and emerging and honour Ancestors.
